Brazil and Latin America: market entry and how to evaluate a robotics project
Adoption depends on an operational problem, local integration and support, and an acceptance plan—not only on access to hardware.
Regional opportunity
Manufacturing, logistics, agriculture, mining, energy and services create diverse use cases. International suppliers need country-specific analysis: import procedures, taxes, radio approval, machinery safety, medical regulation and labor practices are not uniform across Latin America. A channel strategy may combine distributors, integrators, OEMs and direct key-account development.
Project evaluation
Define the operational problem and baseline before selecting technology. Test technical feasibility with representative parts, people and environments. Map integration to IT and operational technology, complete safety and privacy assessments, and identify maintenance, training and spare-parts ownership.
Economics and pilot
Model total cost: robot, tooling, integration, infrastructure, software, connectivity, training, maintenance and downtime. Compare benefits using conservative throughput, quality, safety or capacity assumptions. A pilot needs a fixed period, acceptance metrics, failure tests and a decision gate for scale, redesign or stop.
Commercial execution
Local relationships shorten qualification and clarify who influences specifications, purchases and after-sales. Vendors should avoid treating one success as proof for the region. The route to market must reflect local service coverage, language, financing, customer references and the integrator ecosystem.
